After the launch of Vivo’s X100 series in China, which includes the Vivo X100 and Vivo X100 Pro smartphones, the BBK group-owned brand seems to be gearing up to add two more handsets to this lineup. While there have been rumors about the expected launch of the Vivo X100 Pro+ (also tagged as the Vivo X100 Ultra), it now seems that the company may also be planning to announce a new Vivo X100s model. Little was known about this mystery handset until a tipster leaked details about it recently.
According to a new Weibo post from tipster Digital Chat Station, the upcoming X100s will be a vanilla version of the standard X100 with a flat display. The X100s will retain the rest of the specifications and design as the standard variant debuted on November 13th, but it will sport a flat OLED panel instead of a curved one.
The X100s is said to launch in April 2024, making it the first smartphone from Vivo to feature a flat OLED display. It will be powered by the flagship-grade MediaTek Dimensity 9300 octa-core CPU that is expected to push performance to new heights. The chip reportedly has three 2.85GHz Cortex-X4 cores, four 2GHz Cortex-A720 cores, and the Immortalis GPU from MediaTek.
Other key features of the upcoming Vivo X100s include a 4810mAh battery, Android 14-based OriginOS 4, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The device is expected to come in multiple storage variants, including 12GB + 256GB, 16GB + 256GB, and 16GB + 1TB options.
As far as the camera is concerned, the X100s is believed to have a dual rear camera setup with a telephoto lens and a wide-angle lens. The telephoto lens will be used for focusing, and the wide-angle lens will capture the surrounding scene. The X100s is also expected to support 4K movie portrait video recording and processing.
Another critical aspect of the upcoming handset is its front-facing camera, which can capture 3D facial mapping data to offer a more natural and realistic selfie experience. Vivo has already confirmed that the X100s can record high-resolution videos.
The X100s will likely be available in various color options, including Star Trail Blue, Sunset Orange, White Moonlight, and Chenye Black. Pricing of the device is yet to be announced, but it is expected to be in the higher price range. The handset will be made available only in the Mainland China market.
